Evaluation 3

What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

The first feedback sheet we gave out to people after they saw our music video included the following questions:

1) Does it meet the brief? (0-5)
2)Does it employ technical skill? (0-5)
3) Does it show creativity and imagination? (0-5)
4) Does it employ appropriate media language/conventions? (0-5)
5) Does it show degree of finish? (0-5)
6) Other comments:

After collecting the results we found out that our friends did not give realistic answers back, for example we showed only a part of our music video as it was not completed yet however people graded us five out of five for showing a high degree of finish or filled out five's for all questions. This made us realise that the feedback we got from out friends are bias and therefore we decided to re-do the questionnaire amongst people we did not know and even if we gave it out to friends we told them before hand not to be 'too optimistic' about our video but instead be realistic. We also decided to include questions about our ancillary tasks:

1) What did you like about the music video?
2) What did you dislike about the music video?
3)What do you think we could have done to improve our music video?
4) What do you like about the ancillary tasks?
5)What do you dislike about the ancillary tasks?
6)What do you think we could have done to improve our ancillary tasks?
7)As a whole do you think all the music production products represents continuity and brand identity?

Some answers from different people:
1) 'The video was funny and entertaining'
'The use of different camera angels'
'The use of different type of settings'
'The narrative story was really good, I felt I could relate to it'
2) 'The  band performances does not link in with the rest of the footage, the lip singing and body language does not look professional'
'The band does not look professional'
3) 'Change the band'
'Replace the band'
'Improve the lip singing of the lead singer'
'Make some clips sharper, as the quality is not good'
'Use more video effects'
4)'The black and white backgrounds for the inlays'
'The bright colours you used throughout the texts'
'The effect you applied to the front cover'
5) 'The band members looked too serious for a pop genre'
6)'Use more bright colours like yellow, orange, light blue, green etc'
'Cut the inlays better out'
'For a pop genre the images are too serious'
'use lighter colours, images were quite dark'
7)'Yes everything was clear and linked well together, especially your ancillary tasks'
'Yes everything linked together, however your back cover and music magazine had too much writing,
I think you should use less typography to make the images stand out  more'
'I think the magazine advert was a bit cramped looking because the writting took the emphasis off the main image'

I believe that audience feedback is really important as they will be the consumers of the products therefore knowing their likes and dislikes would help to improve the work we had done so far. From our
audience feedback I learned a lot such as to improve the band scene. A lot of audiences did not like the band performances therefore we decided to change the band scene. First we wanted to reshoot the performances however we realised we do not have enough time therefore we got random people just singing along the song lyrics of our song 'To Night I let you Go'. In addition, with help of audience feedback we also got to know that we had to lighting up some parts of the footage as they were quite dark and not clear to see.
